Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in Guildford & Online

Exploring your past to shape your future

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Rik, I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor providing both short- and long-term therapy to individuals in Guildford, surrounding areas, and online.

About me

I am a Psychotherapeutic Counselor trained at the Metanoia Institute in London. I work relationally and developmentally; building a strong therapeutic relationship and exploring together what affects you in your present and where it may have started in your past. I aim to acknowledge the impact of past decisions and events, whilst working on ways to let them go if they are no longer helpful.

I believe the therapeutic space and relationship are invaluable to understanding ourselves better, and I offer an open, non-judgmental space for you to explore issues affecting your life.

I am a qualified member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical codes and professional practice. Before training in psychotherapy, I worked in a corporate environment managing, developing and interacting with a wide variety of people.

My favourite part of this career was understanding and developing those around me whilst working within a team to build and develop ideas into fully realised projects.

This love of people and their story led me to psychotherapy where I found my passion to work with people outside of the corporate world on finding the best version of themselves.

The therapeutic journey

Therapy is a journey of getting to know yourself better; the parts you love, the parts you want to let go of, and everything in between.

However, the journey can be lonely and we often find ourselves walking into the same dark alleyways time and time again. That’s where a strong therapeutic partnership can help us understand why we take the same routes, explore what other options we have, and what decisions we want to make next.

The core philosophy of Transactional Analysis

  • We are all okay
  • We can all think
  • We all have the power to control our destiny, and any decisions we make can be changed

I believe you are the expert in your life and I will work with you on finding the best version of yourself by exploring who you are and where you came from. Very often our childhood decisions and parental influences shape us without our concious knowledge, and by linking present complications with situations from the past we can affect change for the future.

Make better, healthier new choices

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and training to be a psychotherapist in Transactional Analysis.

I believe that learning in life never ends and I attend CPD events, conferences and further training, as well as keeping up to date on current developments in the psychotherapy world, to keep myself learning and informed.
